I have a question, I went to turn on my boat, and its a no go. I just hear a single click. I pulled out starter and tested it (ran direct power and ground) and it worked, so I went and changed the solenoid. When everything is connected (with the starter still out) I turned the key (grounded starter to battery) and the starter turned. But when I put the starter back on, it clicks again, any ideas? Could it be maybe batterys don't have enough juice? Or maybe somthing else? Thanks in advance

Starter turns when it is off the flywheel, but won't spin when it's on the flywheel? I dunno' how hard it is to pull a Cobra, but I'm wondering if you're locked up in the drive or engine. Can you rotate the engine by hand/tool?

Correct, starter turns when it is off flywheel but not when it's on flywheel. I have not tried to rotate the engine, maybe I will do that. Sounds like bad news though.

Following up on your original post - have you load-tested your battery?

how do/does the lube(s) in your stern drive gear case(s) look? (I don't know the Cobras very well)

I have not load tested batterys, I'm going to do that this afternoon. And I have not changed lubes/oils in stern drive, that was going to be the next thing I do.

If is helps any bit more, the motor was over heating last time I turned it on, since then I changed exhaust manifolds and risers and all gaskets and I did oil change and spark plugs, then I went to turn it on and it was a no go

Until you verify the engine can turn, everything else is useless. That would be the first thing you need to do now. Over heating is a serious issue it seems. How bad remains yet to be seen. JMHO
