omc cobra vortec intake question

Hey all. Just got a set of vortec heads for my 1988 omc cobra 5.7 and I need to order the edelbrock intake today from summit but I'm so confused as for which one to order! I'm going to keep running the quadrajet that's on it. They offer the performer rpm square bore for 200 bucks or they offer the "marine" vortec intake for 380. Everyone has said it's useless to spend the extra money on that. Also if I'm correct the quad is a spread bore carb so will it work on the square bore intake? Help needed lol thanks

Yes the Q-Jet is a spread bore carb, if you used a square bore manifold, you'd have to use an adaptor or get a square bore carb, personally if you had good luck with the Q-Jet I'd stick with that and get a GM manifold for the Vortec engine. The vortec vs non vortec differs in the # of bolts that hold it to the heads.

non vortec has 12 bolt holds, vortec has 8...

Ayuh,... Welcome Aboard,.... The "Marine" intake ya found has bronze water passages cast into the aluminum to help with corrosion, the other intake Don't,.....

If ya wanta keep the spread-bore carb, I'd find another choice of manifold,...
The adapter plate brings along a host of other issues with it,....

For a square-bore/ multi-fit carb the Edlebrock 1409 is hard to beat,...
