Call me dumb or just slow I guess.I have read Hastings web site 100 times.I have 2 manuals, but I can't find info on a new cable installed, what do you do with the brass nut and threaded piece at engine end.I understand the distance from the brass end to the connection hole but don't know what to do with that threaded piece and nut. Also do you connect cable at drive end first and then the engine end or the otherway around.I sure don't want to mess this up,and there is no body in my city that knows a thing about OMC,other then yea, they are out of business.

Thanks for answer,I couldn't find that.
Now for another question.
While I have drive off I decided to replace ujoint bellows, even though it look fine,no cracks,I decided to put a new on one.Ok I take it off, there is no sigh of sealer at either end, both ends perfectly clean.I got some 3m weatherstrip sealer and that stuff sets up faster then you can spread it.I put new bellow on with out sealer then.I haven't put drive back on yet so my question is do I nead to pull it back off and put some kind of sealer on it beings it had none on it to start with?
