I changed my engine on a 1977 SkipJack to a brand new 351 Ford Marine but didn't change out the OMC stern drive I know I will have to rework the transom and steering set up but what I don't know what brand and type of stern drive will bolt up to the 351 Ford Marine (only has 120 hours on it)and I have already spent close to 8000.00 over the last couple of years repairing the stern drive and want to be rid of it

I know that MerCruiser used to use Fords, so you might try that route. As far as I recall, the only Fords OMC used were the little 2.3s and the big 460s. I'm not sure what would fit, and I'm not sure they ever used either on stringers. Mostly you'd need the bell housing and engine coupler.

Otherwise, you have a big hole in the transom to fill and reinforce if you switch from that drive.

Some of those old OMC electric shift stringer drives used Ford engines. I think one was the 240hp version back in the mid to late '70s.
