I need some help trouble shooting a "dead" engine sync gauge. I have two OMC 5.8L engines (1994) in a Chris Craft Crowne (94). Both tachs work fine. I noticed there is a "BLACK BOX" that the engine signal from both engines go into before they get routed to the engine sync guage. The black box is located on the back of the dash.
Other boats I have looked at just have a wire coming off of each engine tach going to the back of the sync gauge (one wire to each post of the sync gauge). I tried just running a wire from each tach to the post of the Sync gauge and nothing happen. My guess is this "black box" has something to do with the operation of the engine sync gauge. I found the p/n for the "black Box" (OMC p/n 175522). Just trying to figure out if the sync gauge is dead or if this "black box" is the problem.
