OMC flapper removal - remove manifolds too?

Do I have to remove the 1 piece OMC 4.3 manifolds to get at the exhaust flappers down in the Y pipe? The manual's not specific and I've never removed any part of my exhaust.

It's either the manifolds or lift the whole engine up and out of the way.

Or I suppose I could get a torch and cut the Y pipe section out... replace the flapper, then glue it all back together with Elmers. Not the cheap Elmers, either.

Yeah.

you'd make quite a mess too.....It's aluminum

ok you may of already done the deed
but here is the si,ple fix
jut take the rubber boots loose and off the manifolds then there can see the flappers in the tubes. carefully take them out and get the complete new sets with the rods and the little rubber tits etc and reinstall simple ben there done that, and i didnt take the manifolds off the engine but was a bear to get the boots back in place but a little time and a few cusses got er done, PS i cuss some what lolololo
