I need help finding a fly wheel for a OMC stringer outdrive to a 89 chevy 350. The motor that was in this boat ended being junk when we bought it and the shop I took it to had closed down, We finally got it back and my motor was strip down to the block. So I am looking for a motor for it. I had a pre 70's gm 350 in it and I found a 89 350, the parts will exchange but the fly wheel. Does anyone know if I can get a fly wheel that will fit my old omc to the new gm 350, My OMC fly wheel is 12 3/4 and ill need a 14" omc fly wheel with a 3" bolt pattern.. any ideas

The boat from hell....

Re: Omc Fly Wheel

won't work Steve, but the flywheel isn't the part stopping you....

It's the coupler that bolts to the back of the crank.

The coupler you would theoretically need for the 1989 engine to connect to the intermediate splined shaft does not exist.

You have to use a pre-87 engine with a stringer.

Re: Omc Fly Wheel

That sucks!

Thanks for the info

I thought about welding the coupler onto the new fly wheel, but I guess that would be a very problem matic situation ...
