Have a 17.5 Bayliner Capri and the engine block was cracked. Obtained a new 2.3 L block and installed it. Engine was fine but it didn't have a place for the mechanical fuel pump to fit to the cam. added an electric fuel pump that was specified for that engine but in a Ford car or truck. Now that the fuel pump is in place the motor idles fine but when it is reved it dies...my guess is it is not enough pump for the marine system trying to push through the OMC fuel pump and pushing rather than pulling.

My other concern is that this setup is not CG approved and I want to stay away from that. Anybody with a suggestion on how i can power this engine and still be CG approved with an electric fuel pump. Product suggestion or specs for the right part would be appreciated. Thank you.

Re: OMC Fuel Pump question

you do need to get a marine rated pump i would not use a boat with out one.
even the smallest pump made should easely keep up with this motor
all pumps are made to draw in fuel from the a tank and fuel water sepator and then pump it up to the carb
i have no idea how this pump should be wired but it is very inportant that when you get the marine pump you follow the wireing plan that they recomend your playing around with something that is very dangerous if not done correctly

tommays
