well, it is to me, anyway<br /><br />would a 71 125 johnson powerhead bolt onto a 73 135 johnson? its coming pretty cheap, so I figure its practice ... of course, all the OTHER stuff Ill need, well, not so cheap, but anyone have a clue about this sorta swap? <br /> the 73 doesnt have that electo shift trans, does it?

Unfortunately the 71 and 73 V4's do not interchange. Yes the lowers are all mechanical shift since 73.<br /><br />Good luck!

DOH!<br /><br />hmmmmm<br /><br />how tough a job IS a rebuild on the 73 powerheads? the guy sez his brother (aint it always someone else?) ran it wiothout premixing, so it locked - a good honing to get the larger scores out and a set of rings, maybe clean it up? possibly? lol, ah god, the boating gods may be fair and just, but to say they are cruel is such an understatement!!!<br /><br />and of course, there is no equivalent of JC whitney to come to the rescue with an adapter plate of some sort, lol, at least the oars still work<br /><br />the feet are questionable<br /><br />
