I bought a rectifier from someone out of state, and they sent me something else. The rectifier is small and triagular shaped. What they sent was the item mounted on top of the engine, between the heads, sorta under the flywheel. It has 1 heavy wire going to one side and 3 or so smaller going to the terminal strip on the other. Also the circuitry is incased in a rubbery epoxy (3"x6"). What is this item. Can't find in my clymers manual anywhere and is it expensive?

Sounds like a water cooled regulator / rectifier. What a deal.

You got good luck already!

Dhadley I believe you are correct. After looking at my engine, I see that I don't have the triangular shaped one like in the manual. I bought this used ($65.00)and is gauranteed for 30 days or my money back. Good deal? May just have a bad tach anyway, tach drops to 0 after 2500 rpm's. Thanks
