OMC high idle lever stuck

Everything else is in perfect working order but when I tried to raise the lever it won't move. With a little too much pressure I sheered a screw. After replacing said screw and making sure everything works with the control box separated it still won't budge when put together. I have to start the boat four to six times until it'll idle. But having that lever in working order will fix that. Hopefully.

What year? Could be the shift interlock that prevents shifting when the fast idle lever is raised. Any pictures of the box while separated?

I don't have any images and it's too dark at the moment but it's a 1984. It worked fine before I sheered a tooth on the shift lever. Got that replaced and now the idle lever won't budge. I'm quite certain I put it all back together correctly but I definitely could be wrong.

I know the cables move easily because it'll go into gear and throttle up forward and reverse.

Disconnecting the throttle cable at the motor removes any chance of a badly adjusted cable screwing it up.

Thank you oldboat1 and Fed the cable adjustment was wrong. I got it to raise when I move the shift handle forward just before engaging gear box. I will get this corrected tomorrow! Thank you guys very much for your input!

Hoping someone could offer me some help. I have a similar situation as Yblek3. Except opposite. When I raise the high idle lever it
immediately drops. The engine starts in high idle and stays there which makes shifting darn near impossible. It's as if the lever is connected
to " nothing" .

Start your own thread don't hi-jack 4 month old threads. It sounds like your cable is to loose.
