OMC High Profile E-Shift Stringer 981231

Hello Everbody,

Was just given a spare/ emergency out drive. Trying to figure out the year, for parts reference and gear ratios.

Model 981231 Serial W191037 ( Manufact's Tag on starb side, below trunions.)

Don't have the motor, can't look for OMC package model number.

Google found 4 pages, and the only info of value that I could find, was a person selling same model number, and claims it is 1968.

Just found a leg on craigslist with same model number, but seller claims it is a 1976.

Any OMC data files that I can find?

Don't know if this helps, but mine is a confirmed 1975 (know the original owner) and it's m/n 980707 s/n w68420
