OMC King Cobra Conversion

Spent 12k to have both outdrives fixed only to be told I should replace them.
316 10000 lbs Chris Craft Crowne. 350 OMC. Any suggestions of conversions?

Ayuh,... You have only 2 choices,...
Remove ALL of the OMC driveline,...
Then go back with either a Complete Mercruiser, or Complete Volvo driveline....

Would that be the dog clutch King Cobra, or the cone clutch King Cobra. There are better option for the dog clutch style, nothing for the cone clutch type except for what bondo suggested.

You might provide a little more detail......

You spent $12,000 to do what? were they not "fixed"?

Any suggestions of conversions?

I'll "pile-on" with Bondo.

There's no conversion. there's only repair or replacement.

You might be able to replace them with SEI's (depending on your OMC Cobra model) If they're 86-93 "Dog-clutch" models.

If they're "King" Cobras you might be out of luck.

You might be able to replace them with SEI's (depending on your OMC Cobra model) If they're 86-93 "Dog-clutch" models.

That is one option, he could also convert to the Volvo SX or DP-S duo prop outdrive if he has that model.. Which means he has two ways of converting the drive to something else.
Which just happens to be the reason I ask him which one he had. No since in doing a lot of typing if he had a cone clutch King.

Yeah. That would be a nice setup with DPS drives huh?

Could he have done that for around $12k if the replacement "stuff" was used?
