omc lower unit replace

I am going to replace my lower unit because of damage.I have found a GLM #28820 that replaces OEM #987800.Will this work on my 1988 Four Winns 4.3l OMC COBRA? Does anyone have a good used lower gear unit they would like to sell? Terry

I don't know about those part numbers, but the Cobra unit can be replaced by another 1986-93 Cobra unit with no changes or by a later OMC/Volvo SX unit with a modification for the front-driven raw water pump. Anything else is a project.
