I have a Johnson 135hp 1975. 135ESL75.
I currently have a really old Seloc manual for this motor. Volume IV.

I am wanting to know if the OMC manual will give the testing parameters using a standard volt meter instead of the neon tester that is talked about in the Seloc manual?

I realize that I will have to use a resister with some tests.

I am just needing the test proceedure and readings for this specific motor:
Strator
Power Pack
Timer Base
Sensor Coil High Ohm
Sensor Coil Low Ohm
Coils

Basicly the entire ignition system and knowning the proper Ohm meter limits and testing proceedures.

Will the OMC manual offer this? If not, where can I get this information that is specific to my motor.

Thank you,

Kemper I have the voltages you need in a Rapair manual, but they won't do you any good inless you have a DVA to read peak voltage if you do post that you have one I will get the spec. for you

Yes, today I just bought a Fluke meter that can messure peak voltage.

But will it also have the testing proceedures or will the current manual I have work?

kmartin@kcinternational.net

Thank you,

what meter is that? so far all the flukes I have seen require an adapter. RMS is not peak nor is ac or dc reading peak. or did ya have to buy the adapter with it? CDI makes a nice setup for about 115 dollars. would be nice to get another digital meter that would read DVA without adapters to keep up with. I have enough trouble remembering to change the settings sometimes :) :)

I wonder if he's got the min/max hold setting confused with peak reading?
The Electronic Specialties #640 DVA adapter is pretty inexpensive compared to the CDI one. Sells for less than $50. I'm not suprised to see the competition: the circuit is pretty simple.

Yes I had to buy the adapter. I purchased the one Paul mentioned. ESI640. It was only $22.00 at my local electronic store. I wanted a new meter anyway because I placed my old meter in my RV.

But I believe the Fluke 87-3 has it built in.
