Morning guys,
Saturday night I re installed my lower unit and filled it with oil, I came to my shop today and noticed a very large puddle of oil under the drive. It appears that the oil is coming from inside the cavity in from of the prop where the prop shaft comes out of the unit. I took the drive back off and put on the stand I built. I cleaned all excess oil off and inside that cavity........I did pressure test drive while it was off and it tested good...... I'm stumped....

Is there an oil channel between the two drives? I did split the lower from the upper after I pressure tested. I'm going to let it stand in the vertical position on the stand with oil in it and see if it is still leaking.... thanks for the help

I'm sure some one will correct me if I'm wrong - it's been a while since I had a Cobra apart - but I think the oil passage on them was up the center around the drive shaft. Did you replace the seals on the outside of the driveshaft bearing housing?
You asking if there is an oil passage between the two housings makes me worry that you may not be filling it to the dipstick level in the upper unit. If you are in doubt of the proper filling procedure, there is a section in the "must have info" at the top of this forum that is very good.

problem solved, I should have been more specific in the first post but I did it with my phone..... I don't like posting with my phone. I do know now what could be the problem..... I cleaned up all the oil and its now sitting on the stand full of oil..... I have my fingers crossed that it doesn't leak.

I also spoke with a OMC mechanic today and he said one thing that will not show up on a pressure test is the water pump shaft seal. if that seal leaks, while the engine is running and the pump is pumping it has the potential to push water into the drive mixing it with the oil. Just something to keep in mind
