Omc outdrive or omc sx?????

Hi....I have looked over the site and can't find my answere (although its probably here).

I am looking at buying a fourwinns sundowner 235. I has a 2010 5.8l cobra engine. I live 4 hours from this boat and am finding it hard to det. the outdrive. I heard the 1993 cobra outdrive's are bad? But the 1994 cobra outdrive might be a volvo? (depending on wether or not the used and 1993 outdrive on the 1994 boat. I heard you can tell from the prod. # if it starts in 386xxxx its a volvo in an omc case and if the numbers are 98xxxx its the cobra? They cant find the number so I asked if the water pump is mounted on the engine (they said yes).....would that make it a volvo outdrive? Am I correct on being worried about the omc cobra? Is there that much of a difference?

Welcome to iboats! OMC, I believe went out of business 1999-2000 so I'm not sure about a 2010 5.8 Cobra motor. I would also be cautious as to why it was swapped. Also being 4 hours away, steer away. You'd be much better off with a Mecrusier + GM motor.

hard to say for certain from the pics, but the shape of the upper looks OMC dog-clutch to me. I don't the the SX hump on there.

If it was VP, they probably would have plastered that all over the ad.
