Hello all....I've been lurking around iboats for some time now and have always been able to find answers searching the forums. I'm kinda stumped on this one tho. I have a 1989 OMC 4.3 with power steering. There is a significant leak coming from the power steering cooler. I can remove the hoses, but am unable to remove the mounting bracket. There is a bolt that runs thru it to tighten down the cooler but removing it only lets me twist it.Any suggestions?

Are you removing the screw that holds the cooler in the clamp (probably a 5/16 or 1/4 head size) or the bolt that holds the clamp to the block ?

DHP

Thanks for the quick reply. I removed the screw that holds the clamp but the bolt that holds it to the block seems very tricky to get out. I'm guessing now that I'm gonna have to find a way to take out that bolt. Is there anything else I need to remove?

is it a stud with a nut? or a bolt? if its a stud you have two use a ratchet and a wrench to hold the stud , while you loosen the nut. is it severely rusted?

It's a bolt that goes directly into the engine block. Its just very difficult to get anything in there. If I was 8 years old I might be able to reach it!
