My father in law has a 1988 OMC Cobra that has a power steering leak at the actautor. He is looking to replace the WHOLE assembly. IM finding the actuator to be NLA. I cant find the part number for the whole thing. Also I found on EBAY a listnig that says it will work on mercruiser or the OMC cobra they just paint them different colors but Im not sure how true that is. Can anyone help me with where to find the assembly or tell me the mercruiser is the same.

Re: OMC power steering

Howdy,

The Mercruiser PS cylinder is NOT the "same"

Go to http://epc.brp.com and you can find the part number.

You can also go to Doug Russel and http://www.boats.net/parts/search/OMC/parts.html

You may not be able to find a new one. (OMC has been out of business over 10 years you know)

Ebay is probably where you'll find one unless you can go to a used boat part wrecking yard etc.....

Just about any one from a Cobra 87-89 should fit. I sold my last one on ebay for about $50 or so...

Good luck,

Rick
