omc regulators$$$$$alternate?

Just wondering if anyone knows why omc regulators are so expensive? 200 plus for a crappy little electronics part,must be some real hi tech stuff. Anyone know if you could just hook up a regulator from a ford? I guess the tach would be a problem. Let me know what you guys think

Its also a rectifier. Not that it justifies the 200$$$$ but....<br /><br />It depends on which motor you have but you might try Pro Marine. They have new ones that may be less. I know the quality is good, not sure on $$$. 800-621-7761.
