Greeting to All!

I just found you guys, and thanks for being here!

I have a problem and I hope you all have the answser fo me.

I have a 1985(?) 20' CC SportCraft Fisherman with a 1.6L (150hp) OMC SeaDrive.

My problem is with the tilt/trim hydraulics.what it is doing is it want to "slam" back in to the trasom under load, above about 2300rpms.
It will hold the outboard over night with no leak down,I marked the rod with a black felt tip on the rod of the upper ram,no leak down in about 20 hours. I changed the hydraulic check valve block out with a used on that I bought. still doing the same thing. this is on the upper ram.
Is this meaning that my ram is bad?

I did a search and did not find anything like this. But I did get 20 hits total in the search.

Re: OMC Sea Drive tilt/trim Problems

Hi bogus....glad ya' found us....

What may be going on there is a bad Oring in the cylinders. You've probably by now have figured out that the cylinders are pistion driven. The sealing force around the pistons are orings. One to a piston. I would really recommend a service manual for troubleshooting the unit. Iboats have the generic version but OEM manuals are the preferred manuals. Manuals for yer engine are still available from any Johnny/Rude dealer. Hope we have helped a little.
