I looked thru the Seadrive threads but they didn't quite ease my mind about the Sdrive. I have been following a Craig's List boat. It is a 1984 Renken with a Sdrive. I live 3 hours away and really don't want to waste long hours to go look unless it has a chance of working out for me. A clear cockpit would be great for what I'd use it for...Fishing. My I/O takes up too much cockpit space. Is the mounting bracket a troublesome feature on these? It looks clean from the pics but if repair was needed down the road what pitfalls would I expect...I know they aren't made anymore but scrapyard availability? As far as powerhead, controls, impellers, maintenance items would that be a problem in the future? I figure if they were any good they'd be making them today. I guess the motor portion utilizes the standard Evinrude engine parts. Or? Any thoughts? Thanks to YouAll

Stay away from it and you'll be $$$$$$$$$$$ ahead. It's a big can of worms. If I could type that long I could tell you all about the bad things about them. Just a big mistake by OMC. A Gill bracket on the back of a boat with an outboard would be much better.
