I have a 1985 boat with a 305 engine and the selectrim motor apears to be shorted internally. It is currently in a position were the front of the engine is down. My question is will I cause any damage to the engine if I run the boat like that until I can gat the trim motor fixed?

Canz<br />It will do no damage to the motor but the bow may run too high for saftest and best ride. You may also take longer to get up on plane. Try turning Jack screw by hand to get it where you want it.

Thank you for your reply. This is a hydraulic trim, is there still a jack screw?

nedemge the front of my engine is full down. I have removed the motor and I am having it looked at a local marina. Thanks for your post.

What type of outdrive do you have? OMC, Mercruiser, Volvo? If it is an OMC I may be able to help you out.

I have an OMC with the hydraulic selectrim. I do not have the jack screw type. Thanks proline2.

Can anybody tell me if there are aftermarket hydraulic pumps made for the trim motors?

I guess this post can be closed. I had the 12V motor repaired and the pump was tested fine. I still cannot believe that there are no aftermarket pumps for these units. Thanks to everybody that replied.
