Hey guys,

Just updated my 1991 OMC Cobra 4.3L with a new delco voyager est electronic distributor. I have it all set up and running but my question is, what do I do with the shift assist module? How do I set it up on my engine or what do I do with it now?

Thanks

I don't think you can use it with the EST. The EST uses a completely different system for causing the engine to stuble so it can shift. The original system removed power, the EST needs to have power put to a terminal to cause the stumble. The shift interrup switches and the module all work opposite.

Pitch the module and set the system up just like a Mercruiser shift interrupt, but you will have to adapt a N/O (normally open) switch.

I posted these before in a different thread. this is for a V8 application but should be the same for a V6 (I think).

These 2 pages are out of a packet Pro Marine gave me on the Delco EST.

You can buy one of the newer style ESA modules or you can wire it up like in the diagram I posted.

Thats what Pro Marine told me when I was asking about the EST kit. Theres another thread a couple weeks ago Where someone changed over to a Delco EST and I posted the same diagrams and thats how they wired it up.

You wire it up like in the digram and there is no need for an ESA module.

I posted one of the wrong pages in my earlier post with the diagrams. I will post the correct page when I get home. The correct page is the same as the OMC wiring page but its for a Merc.

Where can I buy one of the newer ESA modules that will work for my motor?
