I have a '84 4cyl. Stringer OMC. I had the impeller replaced by a marine mechanic and have had it out a couple of times on the lake (with no problems), but now I am experiencing the following problems:

1) When I shift into forward the engine stalls
under low throttle. The engine will
pickup under heavy throttle through.

2) When returning to neutral, the shift cable is
returning with more difficulty.

3) Upon returning to neutral, the shift cable
does not return the engine rpm's back to
idle range. I can do it manually by
adjusting the cable on the side of the engine.

Any thoughts on the problem is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Re: OMC Shift Cable

Sounds like the shift cable wasn't put back properly, or somehow got out of adjustment. I would take it back to the mechanic who installed it and have it checked out/corrected. He should warrant his work.
