Guy's, Need some Help. I've been working on an old Larson TriHull, 1969 17'.
Needed a new floor to start with, ended up vacuuming out the mulch, and hoisting out the 10 Tons waterlogged foam. Trying to do the job by taking apart as little as possible, so less to put back together. But that ain?t working. I found some rot in the corner of the transom, it is localized, but I don?t want to have to do another tear down in a few years.

I pulled the motor, and lower unit. My question is how do I get this middle section out?

Thought those screws in the back were a ring, and once off, might reveal the next step. But it?s not budging, and I don?t want to tear the bellows.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. (Other than scrapping the boat).

Thank in advance for any help you can give.

Ayuh,... Welcome Aboard,... Work the boot, loose, 'n off the back...
The mid-section should pretty much fall out after that...

you could have pulled the mid section when you pulled the motor. only need to pull the drive off the stringer, then remove the clamp ring, push the boot to the inside, undo the 4 stringer mounts and lift the engine and mid section out as a whole unit.

Thanks for the reply Scott.

Thought the clamp ring was the key to it, but it still won't budge. Looks like the outside edge is sealed/glued.
I have enough things to replace on this project without adding another boot to the tally.

May end up having to take it off anyway, for now, we'll work around it.

if you have any signs of weather cracking at all to the boot, replace it.

the boot is probably simply stuck on from being there for many many years.

The Boot's new, PO said someone took a razor blade to the original and he had it replaced.
Is the outside diameter of the boot normally glued? Feels like Silicone.
If that ring came off, is the boot actually 2 pieces that would split under the ring?
