Omc stern drive swap

Hey everyone, just joined this forum I need help I have a 1988 vip omc cobra 2.3 4 cylinder stern drive, well found out the engine is shot (cracked block) i am able to get a great deal on a 1981 sea ray with a 5.0 v8 omc stern drive, however the lower unit is bad, my question is can I swap out the lower unit from my 4 cylinder vip stern drive to the 5.0 sea ray??

You probably need to take this to the OMC forum tab, but many of the pros speak both languages. Thinking your 2.3 drive is geared way too low for that 5.0. I don't know if you could find a prop to harness that V8

sell the outdrive from the 2.3 and buy a lower for the 5.0
