omc sterndrive i have is 800 or 400

hi there i have a omc motor inboard 3.0 motor and i have the outdrive or sterndrive, but im not sure what size it is if its a 400 or is it a 800, i was hoping someone could help find out

They had 3 models the 400 (4 cyl) the V-6 and the 800 (V-8) drives.

The 4cyl used the 400. The 6cyl & 8cyl both used the 800. It's called the Stringer drive due to how the motor is mounted to the stringers and the outdrive is connected and supported entirely by the motor via the intermedieate housing. No part of the drive is mounted to the transom.

so im guessing that my 3.0 omc is using a 400 omc sterndrive is that correct

You forgot the Cobra which was the most used.

That's true post-1985.5. However, the OP was asking which he had in the context of "400" & "800" which are Stringer models. If the OP has something post-1985, then we're barking up the wrong tree. :)
