I have looked through my omc service manual and I don't know if i'm reading it 100% on the location of the water pump impeller. Right not from what I have looked at it should be in the attached picture section of the sterndrive, correct? Well I have loosened these 4 bolts and now they will not come any further out. By the way these bolts were extremely hard to get this far. My questions are, Am I in the correct spot? And If so, How do I get this piece off now?

Thanks,
Scott

Is this a salt water engine?
You are on the right track, those bolts hold the water pump housing to the bearing housing assembly.
I used to use an inpact wrench to spin the bolt, use a open end wrench that will slide over the bolt shank. While you are spinning the bolt, push down on the wrench and the bolt will come out. Be advised that the complete bearing housing might come down also.

yup, you are almost there.

that puck looking thing that holds the impeller is dead center in the middle of your red square in that pic.

the bearings wont fall out, the shaft will though. Be sure to clean and lube those splines.

maybe try a smaller open end wrench to put on the bolt and give it a few taps downward.

Thanks for the help guys. I will give these techniques a try when I get home. Probably give it a shot of Liquid Wrench before trying this.

I traded some old gold jewelry worth ($270) in gold for this boat. The guy was paying storage on this boat and needed it gone. My guess is that he and previous owners ran this boat in salt as I will do the same. It has been a project so far but I am getting close to taking her for a spin.
