i just bought a boat and towed it home with the stern drive in the up position now i cannot get it down 1977 omc there is supposed to be a lever on it somewhere but i cannot find it anybody know where it is

Remove the 3 bolts off the quadrant gear (half-moon shaped gear that tilts the drive up/down. Drive will move freely at that point & you can fix your tilt problems. Search the forums, tilt issues on an OMC Stringer are pretty common & addressed quite a bit on here.
