I was wondering if anyone knew if the OMC Stringer (I have the electric shift - '72 6cyl/250 Chevy) is supposed to have an audible alarm when/if it's overheating. My outboards did have one, which is why I'm asking.
I changed the thermostat for this season because I was pretty positive that I was overheating last year (gauge read 200?). First run out this year, I ran the boat as normal. Gauge would range between 160? and 200? - but it seemed to jump around kinda' sporadically. Underway, I could feel cold water coming up the hose so I'm thinking I put the impeller in correctly.
I'm trying to decide if I'm really overheating, and if maybe I have a bad temp gauge (most of my gauges aren't working well).
