I am ready to fire my new(rebuilt)engine but the tilt will not lower. It was working well when I took the engine out. The Clymer manuel I have is not much help. It clicks when you hit the switch. I have checked the connections and they are all tight. The 50 amp fuses are good. Does this tilt motor have a dedicated ground? I cannot find one. I searched the database on this forum and did not come up with any useful ideas. Any ideas, thanks for the thoughts.

Ok guys, I ran "Endless summer" all weekend. It ran great. I have really missed the Tombigbee River this summer. The problem with my tilt was the dedicated ground that I missed. My engine runs great with plenty of pep mand oil pressure. One small H2O leak. Fixed by tighting clamp. If anyone needs stringer V6 exhaust manifolds, you cannot get them. Get Merc V6 and risers and hose to the OMC exhaust ports. Works like a charm, just alittle more work. The stringer outdrive is certainly antiquated, however when all is well, all is well. I am teetering on the edge of what to do. My head tells me to put this rig in someone else's boathouse, but paid for is a pretty color.

If your tilt motor has three wires coming off of it you have a dedicated ground, only used on the later model stringers. All others just employed a reversable motor that switched ground depending on where the current was coming from.Have you looked at the oil in that tilt pack?

yes, I checked all the fluids and just because I was there I changed and cleaned all the outdrive oils. Iused the boat practically all day yesterday and boy it does run great, last night I retorqued the heads and adjusted the valves. Does anyone have any suggestions as to my ideas of keeping or selling. I am not wed to the boat, but I could give the old gelcoat a respray and it would really look good.
