:grumpy: I have an 1984 Searay with a Stringer outdrive. I bought the boat three years ago and the second time out the water pump driveshaft stripped. I replaced the shafts and the water pump and then the problems started. After anywhere from 10 to 20 hours the water pump impellers fall apart, They all break the same way, the fins break off at the hub. Has anyone else experienced this? How did you fix it?

Did you replace just the impeller ? or the whole kit (that puck thing ) that the impeller sits inside ?

I have cleaned all the broken impeller pieces out all three times. I bought all three kits from Tungsten Marine in Florida, are GLM or the OMC kits better, I assumed they were all made in china. The GLM kits have made in Tiawan ( saw in assy video) stamped on them.

you must be getting some cheap junk or soemthing. I bought my kit off ebay like 8 years ago or so when I got my boat , last season I opened it up to check the condition of the impeller and lubed the splines and the impeller looked just like the day I installed it.

I've put three impellers in my Stringer - two I got from Evinrude and the last one I got was the Sierra Kit here on iBoats. One of the Evinrude kits failed on me, but the others did just fine.
