I have an 89 bayliner Ciera with and Omc 5.8 and an SEI lower unit conversion, so shifting issues aren't exactly a new subject. however last fall at lay up time I had my dealer put in a new shift cable to the lower unit. that seemed to help one issue, however, we just launched yesterday and now it gets struck in reverse, and wont come out unless i kill the engine. the dealer also did a tuneup, and I noticed it seems to be ideling to fast ( the tach says 1000 rpm's ) it also does go into gear with quite a thud, didn't use to. So I'm wondering if the idle speed has anything to do with this, and how tough is it to slow down the idle if so ?
