OMC Tachometer

I have a 1977 Apollo 18' with OMC 140hp Chevy 4cyl. This was my first boat but the Tachometer has never worked on it. I am not really sure on how to check it to see if it is just the gauge or if it is just a wiring problem. If anybody has experience working on a vintage unit like this, let me know what I should be tracking down. Thanks.

Andy, welcome aboard as far as the tach..... I would personally just unhook the wires from the tach and label them then open the dog house and use some jumper wires direct. One wire to the negative of the coil and one to a ground. If its works then it is a wiring problem if it does not it is a tach problem. good luck
