omc throttle cable

how do u adjust the throttle cable on an 87 omc cobra, 3.0 liter? is the cable adjusted with the throttle in the forward position? any help would be appreciated.

I would adjust the cable with the control handle in neutral. The adjustment is not in the Clymer manual. Rpms should not increase when shifted into gear.

Hello Seawolf,<br />Put the control handle in neutral, then adjust the barrel on the cable until it will fit into the pocket and align with the attachment on the carburetor with the throttle closed. With the cable off adjust the carburetor with the idle adjust screw until the proper RPMs are reached, then attach the cable as discribed above.<br />Hope you can understand the jumble above
