omc tilt gauge old /new

I ordered a new sierra Teleflex tilt gauge for 1990 omc I/o stern drive.the question is the new gauge doesn't have the resistor bar on the back like the old one has,should I take the one from the old gauge and put it on the new one?thanks for any help.phil.

It should work just the way it came out of the box.
