I am helping a friend with the trim issue on his boat. 1990 Baja 240 es with 460 king cobra and the trim doesnt work at all. We will be working on it in the morning again because we ran out of sunlite. I was wondering if i could some how run jumper wires to the battey to see if it goes up or down. If so would anybody know what color wire works up and what color works down? And if it works that way what else to look for? Thanks

blue = up (sky)

green = down (grass)

if by jumping it you get it to work, look for loose connections/corrosion in the wiring

Re: OMC Trim doesn't Work

Well today as soon as we turned on the batteries the lower unit started going up all on its own, pushing the trim up/down stops it but doesnt go up or down after that. weird. then wit it sitting with the batteries on after 5 to 10 minutes it starts going up by itself again.

Now i am just confused and wondering what would cause it to have a mind of it's own like this? Bad switch, Bad wireing? Somthing wrong with the pump relays?

Re: OMC Trim doesn't Work

you need to start troubleshooting the wiring

start at the pump assy and work your way to the trim button

you will eventually find the problem

Well got it all figured out after rewiring from the switch to the pump. It was the fuse for the pump. I can't still figure out why it would work on it's own with a blown fuse, but o well at least it's done.

Mechanical things don't heal. You still have a problem. Only now it's an intermittant one. Much harder to track down.
