OMC Trim Indicator Way Off

Is there anyway to adjust the OMC trim indicator on a 1993 Evinrude 115? When O/B is level the indicator says it's all the way down. Or is the sending unit bad. When I move the lever on the O/B the gauge needle goes up and down so it does work. Thanks.

I believe there is some adjustment at the indicator side as it is mounted with an oblong hole in the base. Loosen the attachment bolts and adjust from there. Be aware, those bolts have a habit of corroding into the mounting bracket and snap off when you attempt to remove them. It may be easier in the long run to simply leave it be if you suspect the bolts are corroded. I find I rarely use the gauge on my boat anyway as I go by feel more than anything.

The potentiometer track may have developed a crack where the motor is positioned mostly. So move the lever slowly and see if the gauge's needle moves smoothly (without any jump) over the entire range.

Keep in mind that the trim gauge only registers engine movement in the "trim" range. It does not register anything in the "tilt" range. Adjust the sender so you maximixe the needle movement in the trim range only.
