I am looking for the part/model number for the foot switch for an OMC trolling motor. The switch is made by McGill and I am looking for their part number not the OMC number. As well I am looking for any info on a BFL4PV trolling motor. I know it is long shaft and 24V but that is it. It also is stamped 24C on the skeg/prop guard.

Thanks

Re: OMC trolling motors

Your TM is a 96' version. The "24C" stamped on the skeg identifies the motor for parts like orings, end head set screw, etc. Most parts are still available for the TM so if you need parts, be sure to remember the 24C stamped in the skeg.

Mine is a 94' and very similar. Mine is a "Silent Start" which means it has a choke coil instead of a resistor coil for speed variations. The choke coil lets the motor wind up more slowly than with a resistor coil.

Look at the skeg. If is is swept back, it's a standard thrust motor. If the back of the skeg curves a little forward, it's a high thrust model.

Thrust wise, I think yours is probably above 48lb at least...likely around 52lb......don't have the book here at home to tell me.

EDIT: Which switch you looking for....."ON/OFF" swtich or the Speed Switch....the one that you dial the speed in with.

EDIT(again): You might want to check with a local dealership....on the price of the switches. I took a look at the site Rick posted and the price for the "ON/OFF" switch is about $10 cheaper from BRP.

I am looking for the on/off switch. I can get them at an electrical supplier if I can get the McGill part number. I can only guess as to what model switch they are using because they make hundreds of them.

Might the number be on your existing switch Mark?

Re: OMC trolling motors

The McGill part number is typed on a sticker on the side of the switch. Of course after being out in the rain the numbers wear off. I have 2 trolling motors and my neighbor has 2 as well. All 4 have the number washed off. I have the OMC number but I am sure I can get this alot cheaper than the $50-60 they want from BRP. The OMC part number and the McGill part numbers are not even close to each other. I know the first 4 numbers start 0121-?. That is all I can read.

If it's the ON/OFF switch under the foot pedal red button..the one you push with your foot, they are about $27 from BRP. At the site Rick posted, they are around $17.
