It's an ignition hot wire. If your Ign. coil is internally resisted, you can run a wire from the + terminal of the coil to the choke. If not, just find a componet that is only powered when the key is in the on position.

Coil.. great. ok. i will do that tommorow and lets see what happen

hold on. will that interrupt with the sparks. or anything at all?? i hear coil and it kinda sound like it may effect something in a negative way

It wont effect anything as long as your coil is internally resisted. If your boat has a ballast resister (it would be near the coil) You have to use an alternate power source.
Your Internally resisted coil has 12 volts going to the + terminal with the key in the run position, engine off.
An externally resisted coil will only have about 5 or 6 volts. (key on, engine off)

Before you hook it up to the + side of the coil see if you have a ballast resistor. With the points closed measure the voltage at the coil. If it is at around 8V or so(something less than 12V) look for the ballast resistor and wire it up to the input of that.

Thats is my System. iam not sure what your talking about.. i never heard or seen ballast before... all i know is coil. the one you see in the picture.

the only thing that kinda ring a bell to me is a ignition resistor.. maybe that is the ballast because it kinda look the same to me

What they call an ignition resistor in that diagram is what 99% of people call a ballast resistor
