Our boat was left out in the sun and the rubber seal around the drive is deteriorated. How much trouble is it to replace, and what could I expect to pay a shop to do it?

thanks

hello
its a lot of bother:)
I no longer work on those drives due to the corrosion in my area. it will require the drive to be removed, although I have heard stories about stretching it around the gearcase. you need to find a manual and read it carefully.

It's not that bad of a job, I did it. It's easier with the drive off. Just remove the screws from the transom, pull the seal away (a second set of hands comes in handy) and loosen the clamp that holds the seal to the intermediate unit and there you go.

Wife and I did it in less than one hour without taking the drive off. Hardest part was getting the old sealer off. A little messy putting the new sealer on and all the screws. Had no trouble streaching the new seal over the outdrive.
