On going SAGA 800 stringer

Well here goes...just got the upper gear case back together with 21/16 gears out of another unit..mine was 21/17..close enough..a full day of grinding with a Dremel tool to cut the rear bearing cup out..a little JB weld..shimmed and reassembled..spins nice..just mounted her back on the boat only to find a 6 inch crack in the intermediate housing upper left..question is..??..has anyone out there had any good luck with welding on these units..??..these things are actually pretty easy to work on once you gain a little experience..patience and a tube of marine grease...!!!

I don't see why a good welder would not be able to helearch it up.
