IF the gauge is Right, You'll Boil the Batteries Dry.... Leaving you with an Explosion Source,+ Very Dead Batteries......

Re: ???on over charging

I believe that is the first step of the Voltage Regulator going south. Can and will eat up your batteries as Bondo mentioned and my guess is the VR will eventually go out all together. When that happens you will likely be stranded.

Mine started overcharging a couple seasons ago. Would start out cold pegging the Voltmeter then 10 to 20 minutes would drop back to 14.3. Still had to watch the water level in the batteries. Eventually it quit dropping back to normal voltage so I replaced it.

Now I have a new problem.

I am happy to hear you are back safe at home and concerned enough to post the situation on the board here about it...really.

I sure hope you pay close attention to Bondo's post before going anywhere with your boat again Sir.

Batteries will eventually blow up, if they are being over charged without any water present.

Hope everything turns out ok for you.
