Hello im a little unclear on setting the choke on my motor. it has three carbs. the manual says to set and secure the linkage with all 3 carbs fully shut. then hold plunger shut, so all the plates are in the closed position with a piece of paper under them. push the solenoid up to plunger and secure the 2 bolts to clamp it. this is where im unclear. then it says to release pressure on the plunger alowing it to remain inside the solenoid. then to pull paper out and i should feel a slight drag.
my problem is when u release pressure on the plunger "im assuming this means the rod to carbs". they all want to return to fully open. are you suposto hold the plunger closed and then remove the paper?
Thanks, Scott

The paper is just there to allow for a small air gap under the butterflys. That is why if you hold the linkage down and remove the paper there will be a drag. You want the chokes to spring open when you release the rod. If you tightened the linkage per the manual then you're good. Don't sweat it, its not super critical you get them all exactly the thickness of the paper

Thanks. thats what i was thinking too. it just made it sound like in the manual, that when you release the rod the shutters should stay closed. and there opening when i release it. I figured it was correct but, wanted to make sure i wasnt doin something wrong.

I never bother with the paper--too much fuss. Ijust set them all closed tight and set the solenoid so the plunger does not bottom out in it.
