I was having problems before when my boat was not able to get over 2k when turning on the engine. See thread. http://www.iboats.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=28;t=022381
Anyway...switch plugs, checked all lines and secured any air leaks. Now I went out today and right of the bat...the boat would not speed up. I said...Man this is going to be a short trip. But since I'm an electronics tech..I said...Hum..how about the "starter switch"?? I saw in other threads that buy pushing in the switch ...you would active the choke and the engine would rev down. Well....I played with the swtich, I disconnected it and reconnected the switch in the wiring connection/terminal. Sure enough...all of a sudden the engine got power and I took off. I believe the switch is bad cause sometimes I connect the deadman's switch and I pull it and it turns off the engine. Today for example...I was coming back from my trip and a wave hit. I was connected to the switch and when the kill part came off...the boat kept going. This shouldn't happen?? I also said,well..let's see if the boat starts without the kill switch( plug that slides in on the side) connected. Sure enough...the engine started. I do believe it's not supposed to do that without the hardware connected. So...looks like my starter switch is bad and I should replace it? My switch is a black switch on goes on the instrument console. I know it's vague... but I've seen some where they go in the back of the throtle and so on. Mine isn't like that. It sits by itself on the instrument console and has several wires connected to it. I believe this might be the switch. http://www.iboats.com/mall/index.cg...t_category=electric>starter&cart_id=853376086
Is this possible that this is causing my boat to due this or am I barking on the wrong tree?
