I have a 88 Yamaha Excel 2.6L - 225
intermittently the onboard tank will keep filling - past the upper level indicator. I've changed the gasket on the sensor, as I thought that might be cause. Seems to make no difference?
Any ideas?
What does that gasket do inside the small tank

that gasket seals the debris from entering the engine oil pump intake without first going through the strainer.
ALWAYS drain the engine oil tank BEFORE removing the strainer assy or any debris on the tank bottom will now enter the engine oil pump.
either the control module is failing, the strainer is improperly installed on the swicth assy or the switch is failing.

Thanks RodBolt!

That give me a place to start.

I replaced the gasket. The old one was really warn and falling off.

I'll take the whole thing apart and check it over.

Is it OK to blow out the sensor with air?
