I recieved this info and pictures from a real good friend of mine that works for the Department of Fish and Wildlife.

"The following pictures are of a guy who works for the forest Service in Alaska. He was out deer hunting and a large world record grizzly charged him from about 50 yards away. The guy unloaded a 7mm Mag Semi-auto into the bear and it dropped a few feet from him. The thing was still alive, so he reloaded and capped it in the head.

It was over one thousand six hundred pounds, and 12' 6" high at the shoulder - a world record.
The bear had killed a couple of other people. Of course, the game department did not let him keep it.

Think about it - this thing on its hind legs could walk up to the average single story house and could look on the roof at eye level. Also, his last meal was human.

I have another picture of one of his victims, but it is not a good idea to post it on here.
It's one bad grizzly for sure, or was.

WOW! Did that bear migrate from Chernoble? That bear Is GIGANTIC!

That guy was lucky his 7mm was able to put it down. Bear probably thought he was getting stung by bees.

With bears that size, no wonder they can't find big foot! he ate them! :D

SBN, I did some research on these photos and the story is not true according to my findings. The first photos I seen also showed a man with all the meat eaten off his leg.I started surfing for more info and found the Bear showed no aggression and weighted in at around 1200 pounds, It was shot by the man in the photo while he was hunting but it did not attack him.He would not disclose the losation he shot it.so who really knows
OMC

Its real photo's, and the bear was taken by a
hunter in Alaska. He had a hunting partner with
him.I have other photos taken of the same bear
but I cant post them. The other picture with the
guys leg eaten to the bone is of a different bear
attack and not related to this bear.

legally taken by person hunting for bear. no attacks. killed it with 2-3 shots. story wasnt really all that exciting. bear is big but not huge and if it made 1000lb i would be amazed. this phenomanal growth and ferocity made national news a few weeks ago. it was killed on hichenbrook island in prince william sound. just south of valdez. of oil spill fame.

Sad....Very sad. People have a greater chance of being struck by lightning than being attacked by a bear. Misinformation like this just feeds into the general misperceptions regarding these magnificent animals.

Personally I place bear hunters right up there with Harp Seal clubbers and folks who make up false attack stories. By the way, did I ever tell you about the time I attacked by a swarm of rabid butterflies?

You usually have to be somewhere in a mountian
forest to be attacked by a Grizzly bear.
Them butterflies must have clouded your think'n

What a small world...

My company does business with a place behind us. A friend and I went over there to pick up some things and noticed that picture framed on his wall.

It's his son or relative (can't remember) He told us about the bear and how he got it.

It's been some time ago, but if you want an accurate detail, I'm sure I can run over there and ask when I get a chance?

H.
