Folks,

First off, I'm new to boats and boating as well as this forum, so please excuse me if the following has been asked and answered a few times.

I have an 18' Stingray (Mercruiser 3.0 L with Alpha drive) which is in need of a battery. I have used the old deep-cycle battery for starting (and everything else electrical) since I've owned the boat, and had no problems. However, when I went to get a new deep cycle battery at the marine dealer, he convinced me to buy a starting battery instead (I don't have any extra equipment currently, I only use the battery for the trim and the blower while the engine is not running). So my question is:

- Is a starting battery good enough for my current needs, and will it work ok if I hook up a fish finder, radio, etc eventually?

Thanks :-

i am no expert here.. but i think it'll be just find.. those acess. don't draw much..

the salesman's thinkin' is 'startin' the motor is top priority,, heck with the rest.'

they make a dual purpose battery.. it'll be perfect for you..

chaulk it up to another one who buys first & comes 'HERE' afterwards for advice..

Howdy, SBX.

Get a dual purpose battery if you are going to add electronics and maybe a troller later.

If your dealer doesn't have them go to Wal-Mart.

Good luck. :)

I use Pep Boys specials but I have two. Those deep cells add up (money). If you are not going to use it (deep Cell) why bother. Batterys only last so long any way. Dont plan to far in the future.
