one more rectifier question

can a rectifier be half bad put out a little charge or is it a all or none type deal and also i have the 4 wire 4-5 amp rectifier and was wondering how much voltage i should see, the battery was completely dead like 11.74 and when i went to full throttle it went to like 12.18 is that enough to show that the rectifier is working at when it is top out at a full throttle

12.18 volts is not enough to charge your battery. Test your rectifier according to your manual.

would like to test it but do not have a ohm meter and don't know if i can use a meter tester have an rectifier order anyway because it has been pulled crank with out the battery connected before and have heard that will fry a rectifer
